Ditch the Clutter: Use ONE Canva File for the Whole Year in Canvas

Hi friends. Some of you have heard about how you can use Canva to make your Canvas pages and announcements POP! I learned about this at TCEA 2025 and I lost my mind!

Using just one Canva project for the whole year, embedding it into your Canvas, and hiding or unhiding your Canva slides will automatically update in Canvas! Mind Blown!

HERE is my file with links to all the monthly Canva slides & the HTML Codes to use in Canvas.

HERE is the link to my Google Sheet with what I post to Canvas EVERYDAY.

Below is a video tutorial I created. Below the video are directions generated by ChatGPT from a prompt I wrote.

🎓 How to Use Canva + Embed to Show Announcements in Canvas (All Year Long)

✅ Step 1: Create Your Canva Announcement File

  • In Canva, create a presentation-style project (recommended size: 1920×1080).

  • Add one slide per announcement (week, month, event, etc.).

  • Design all slides in one file.

✅ Step 2: Hide Slides You Don't Want Students to See

  • In the slide view (left-hand panel), click the three dots on a slide → choose "Hide Page".

  • Only the visible (unhidden) slides will show when you embed.

  • You can change which slides are visible anytime.

✅ Step 3: Get the Embed Code

  1. In Canva, click “Share”

  2. Click “More”

  3. Select “Embed”

  4. Click “Embed” again, then “Copy Embed Code”

💡 Important: Canva automatically excludes hidden slides from the embed preview.

✅ Step 4: Embed in Canvas (LMS)

  1. In Canvas, go to Pages or Announcements.

  2. Click “Edit”

  3. Click “Insert > Embed” (or use the </> button in the toolbar)

  4. Paste the embed code you copied from Canva

  5. Save the page

🔁 To Update Weekly:

  • Go to your Canva file

  • Unhide the slide you want to show

  • Hide old slides

  • No need to update Canvas—the embedded presentation updates automatically!
